Artist Statement
I make work that asks more than it tells. When someone stands in front of a painting of mine, my first question is always what it’s saying to them. That space between the work and the person looking at it is where I think the real thing happens.
I notice patterns and connections that others might walk past: between the natural and the technological, the personal and the universal, the seen and the felt. That quality of attention is at the root of everything I make.
Painting and drawing are at the centre of my practice, though in recent years I’ve been pulling at the edges: working with video, sound, and beginning to explore projection and light in physical space. The shift has felt natural. I’ve always been interested in how layering light, dark and space can carry emotional weight, and now I’m also intrigued by what happens when image moves.
What I keep returning to at the moment is a question: can technology, like nature, hold or reflect something deeply human if you look at it the right way? Memory, joy, curiosity, water, light. The work shifts as I do, which feels like the only honest way to make it.
